Here I am, clicking and typing away to get my precious (Six Feet Under box, all five seasons) and damnable Amazon goes right ahead and figures that my card just isn't up to paying. No, sir, my card's just not for them. I need a bloody "start date", to pay. Who in their right mind has a start date, I ask you. I'm pissed, very, very pissed. I want to spend money. The fools even had me calling them (in England, no less) to tell them my credit-card number, and that I did, being the nice person I am. But what did I get in return for such chivalry? "Is it ok if I put you on hold?" and a message to call back when I'd found the startdate of my card. Oh, and a free 800 number that only works in England. Apparently, he didn't get the fact that I'm not in England. The nerve of some people! Of some stores!

When mum gets home I'm borrowing her card and getting it. Unless, of course, the lovely people at my bank (bound to be idiots, the lot of them) call/mail me with a start date. I hate amazon right now.

This start date requirement have been popping up around the internett lately, really strange. But when I placed my order at Fairygothmother the had a box to fill in the start date, but I just skipped it, and it worked like a dream.
But maybe I will have to dig up the start date of my card also.. Would hate to not be able to online shop, because I don't know the bloody start date.
Hope you get your six feet under!

Hopefully it's a minor setback, not required anywhere else. What benefit can they have of the start date of someone's credit-card?
And as for digging it up, I sent my bank a mail and they seemed just about as clueless as you and I. Oh the joys.
Thank you, so do I :]

Try another online shop, like http://play.com/ or http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/ which both have free shipping.

Thank you for the tip, I'll definitely try somewhere else the next time the need arises - ended up borrowing mum's card and getting it.
