Mamma Mia

Mother got Mamma Mia on DVD, and we just saw it. I don't get the craze. It's sweet enough, I suppose. And incredibly embarassing. Is it a parody of a musical? The moves, the dancing is so horrid it has to be. Nostalgia, in part. Thinking "oh, well, I could have had that, hadn't I been sensible and left it behind". It's cheerful, and I suppose a pepper-up for miserable hosue-wives. And people we think of as stars, superhuman, almost, deign to sing as badly as we do. Is that it?

I will admit that I found an ABBA CD and am happily mouthing along (people are present, and I don't embarass myself singing as readily as Brosnan).

I couldn't agree more, but it is cheerful and cute, and hearing Brosnan sing was quite an experience. And, as I don't have an ABBA CD, I admit, I downloaded "Honey Honey" and others - in Mamma Mia version, please kill me.
