Girl with a Pearl Earring
Nov. 23rd, 2007 01:16 pmI was given a lovely pair of pearl earrings for my birthday by grandmother (I suspect grandfather had no part in the actual buying, as he seemed a tad surprised when I thanked him for the gift). And I am in love. How will I ever revert back to my fake pearls after wearing these? It's not the idea of them being real, as much as the feeling of wearing them, the sheen of them and the way they make the fake ones I wear in the hole above them look so very pitiful.
Someone, remind me that I must never wear, or buy, diamonds for fear of not being able to wear anything less.
Tina once called me "the dark side of posh", and I fear she was dead-on. Did, you, by the way, know that posh derives from "port side out, starboard home"? It refers to the upper-class that stayed on the shady side of the boat. I cannot for the life of me remember where they were going, but I expect it will come back to me at the least opprtune moment.
