Jul. 2nd, 2009 11:17 pmI have been reading, between the eating and the swimming:
BolaƱo's Last Evenings on Earth altered my view on the world, like the critics tell me he ought to. Somehow I still love him. And we've not seen the last of his works. Devoured Gordimer's Beethoven was one sixteenth black, another collection of short stories, also very intriguing. A few gems, one from the perspective of a measuring-tape. Sort of experimental, carefully and painstakingly written. DeLillo surprised me when I read White Noise. Beautiful dialogue, acute observations. Always depressingly funny. That's it, I think? I've lost count.
