Umbrellas in Venice

It's a splendid thing, returning from the cottage. Civilization, people, fun, coffee (not that there hasn't been coffee at the cottage).

I think I might have to buy a ridiculously expensive umbrella, when the occasion arises. I like umbrellas, for no reason in particular. And I desperately want a suit (not the a silly woman-cut version, but a suit tailored for a man), complete with a scarf at the throat, starched white shirt (with a very rigid collar), and the adorable black and white pumps we spotted at Donna Karen, heavy make-up (pale complexion, red lips, eyes accentuated in black), a black bob and red nails. The utter brilliance! The umbrella would work wonderfully with it, too.

If I only had the money.

And now, inspired by "The Merchant of Venice" (wonderful movie, have a look), umbrellas and ideas, I'm off to make ava's.

PS: I think I enjoyed Mrs. Dalloway saying she would buy the flowers herself.

PPS: Nabokov is my hero. Despair is fantastic.
